The whole collection was fist published on 13 Dec. 1893 by G. Newnes Ltd. in an edition of 10,000 copies, as third volume of The Strand Library. The first American edition (by Harper & Brothers, Feb. 1894) also included The Adventure of the Cardboard Box, which was removed from English editions.
