FAQ
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Do you make everything here?
All of the content and artwork in the site was created by me - traditionally and digitally. Ceramic, glass, and fabric art are hand painted onto existing pieces. I do not throw pottery, blow glass, or sew so those items were purchased plain and then customized with artwork. I generally have a painting or design already in mind for it when I spot a particular item. They sort of announce what they want to become.
At this point in time, IgnisArt is a one woman organization and I am the only artist.
I see something I like in the Gallery. Can I buy it?
The gallery section is primarily my portfolio and an opportunity for me to show what kind of work I've done. Many of the pieces are no longer in my possession or are items that I am using myself. That isn't to say that none of the pieces are available. The best rule of thumb is to ask if you're interested in an item. All of the gallery pieces that are done in traditional media (non-digital) are one of a kind items.
If I can't shop the Gallery, what can I buy?
Check out the IgnisArt Store! Some of the illustrations from the gallery have been made into postcards, shirts, bags, prints, and other sundry items through Cafepress.com. There are also occassionaly individual, hand made art pieces available in the store on a limited basis. If there is a piece of art in the gallery that you're interested in but you don't see anything in the store with that design, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to accomodate you.
Do you take commissions?
If you would like to commission a piece of artwork please contact me and we can discuss timeline, availablity, and pricing. My only stipulations are that I will not reproduce another artist's artwork and I will not create lewd or pornographic images.
Can I use your artwork for ________ ?
You are welcome to print out pictures from the gallery for personal, individual use (ie. printing out the picture and sticking it on the refrigerator door or the wall of your cubicle). Any other use of content from this site is strictly prohibited.
However, if you or your organization would like to use a piece in official capacity, please contact me about terms of use and pricing.
The same goes for ditigal and web use. You may not use any of the artwork or site graphics here in or on your website, and you certainly should not be hotlinking them. Hotlinking is a despicable practice wherein you copy the image address from my server and point to it from your website or forum post or signature tagline image. It eats up the owner's bandwith and is stealing in addition to being rude.
Who is the little girl on the About page?
That's a picture of me when I was the grizzled age of 3. :)

CAMDEN HOUSE
I keep seeing Camden House mentioned. What is it?
Camden House is a separate website I host devoted to all things Sherlock Holmes. I inherited the site in January 2006 and have since been working to add to it's wealth of information and resources. You can read all of the Canon (full story texts) online with illustrations, browse the extensive image collection, learn about and listen to music in the Canon and the time period, download sound files and desktop accessories, research existing pastiches, as well as reading articles written by current Sherlockians.
How does one get their Sherlockian projects included on the site?
Unlike IgnisArt, which is a one person production, Camden House has a small, volunteer staff. I maintain and direct the site with the help of Julia Huggins, our editor, and P. K. Jones, the maintainer of the pastiche database and one of our contributing scholars.
Fellow Sherlockians are encouraged to participate in the site and I am always looking for articles [with features] of interest, desktop wallpapers, and new artwork.
If you are an artist who has done Sherlockian artwork I would be pleased to hear from you as I am currently adding a Contemporary wing to the image collection.
Also, if you have written any articles or essays, please be encouraged to submit them for review. Not every article fits on Camden but I know there are more out there that would be a good match. I merely await submissions.
There are a number of places on the site to contact us, but the easiest is just to go to the main page and click on the info button next to my name, R. Wilcox. You can send me a telegram from there!

FUN & FREE
What can I get for nothing?
Well... technically speaking this is a business website. I'm in business to make a living! And yet.. and yet... What would the world be if there were no gifts to be had? Surely, as Sherlock Holmes pronounces, "goodness...gives extras."
There is a section in the gallery of Free Clipart. I will adding to it a little bit by bit as I go.
You can also check out the official fun page where I have some desktop wallpapers I've made. Those are free for the taking.
Last, and certainly tardy in coming, I am working on a beginner's guide to setting up a website. That will also be free.
Will you link to my site?
Maybe. The chances are fairly good, depending on what your site is. Link exchanges are always welcome providing your site does not contain offensive materials. A link back to this site would be greatly appreciated in return. :)
That covers Free. What about Fun?
The desktops aren't fun? You wound me!
But seriously, I like to drop surprises here and there. For the one who both observes as well as sees there are little tidbits here and there in the site, planted to be found. The mystery is waiting for you to solve! Will you find them?

JUDAICA
Why do you have Jewish art here?
Is this a variation on the four questions? Because I do like the four questions. Being the youngest, it was always my duty to ask them. The answer is simple. I'm Jewish and I enjoy connecting to that through art. I also enjoy creating unique Jewish art that's different from what's already out there. The selection of Jewish merchandise is painfully limited in the area where I live, and what I do see all looks the same to me. It's important to me that, whether it is understood by my audience or not, my art mean something.
But you also have some Christmas art in the gallery. I'm confused.
The vast majority of my friends (and a large number of my relatives) are not Jewish and I used to like to make Christmas cards to send them each year. I no longer have the free time required for that, so it has fallen by the wayside, but that is why you see them in the gallery. I do do Biblically inspired artwork but most of it falls under the Judaica heading, being from the Old Testament. If you're really curious, you can ask me about my New Testament artwork, and I will tell my story.
